EV NEWSPAPER

1. What stories are covered every year? Homecoming, holidays, sports, college, etc.
•What time of year did these stories run? One big story each season change.
•Are any of the same people involved year after year? Yes, because if somones goods at something they are going to keep getting recognized.
2. What was the biggest story of each year? Probably homecoming.
3. How many personality sketches of students were run each year? 30 or so
• What types of students were interviewed? (athletes, student leaders, etc.) All types!
• Was any one student constantly featured in one year? Why? Not really, but like I said before if someone is good at something they will keep getting recognized in the paper.
• Do you think this was fair? Yeah, they deserve it. If you want to be in it, do something to get noticed.
4. How many personality sketches of faculty were run each year? Once every couple of issues
• Which teachers were featured? Unique, quirky, funny teachers normally. Married couples.
• Why those particular people? They are liked and admired by students
5. What full page features (or center spreads) did the publication carry? A lot were about excelling in sports. College and graduation was always a big one too.
• Are any of those topics still relevant? Absolutely.
6. What was a great year(s) for sports teams?
• Activities?
•Did the school have any state champions? Yes
• Olympic performers? No
• Other honors? Yes
7. Find a story that uses background information from previous years.
8. What topics did the paper editorialize about each year?
9. What major news did the paper carry about classes? If there was a new or different class. They also put the student of the year in for each.
• Any curriculum changes?
• Any major new programs?
10. Any new equipment?
• Any building programs? Everythings always building at this school.
11. Any scandals involving students, administrators, or teachers? Not really. There was one about gambling that seemed to push the faculty's buttons.
12. What changes in fashion among students can be found? The homecoming dresses change dramatically. They get skimpier. People want to wear less.
13. What signs of changing times can you find as mirrored in the concerns of students? At the correct times there were articles about upcoming elections and I think it was noticable that some students had worries.
• What concerns never seem to change and would continue to make good stories year after year? "What is life going to be like after high school?", " What is there to do this weekend?"
14. Did the school have any championship academic teams?
• Art show winners?• Band or choir awards?• Science winners?• National honors?
15. Which clubs were most active? Speech and band are always really big. Each play always gets a lot of recognition as well.
16. What campus events made the most news? Sports.
17. What movies and music groups has the paper reviewed? The upcoming movies are always popular, I saw one on Mean Girls and Harry Potter.
18. What issues did cartoonists choose? Presidental, student jokes, current issues.
19. How has the publication’s format changed? For the most part is has stayed exactly the same. The columns and page spreads are all similar.
20. Did the demographics of your student population change? Why? I don't think I have to read these papers to know that. I would say absolutely yes just because I have noticed myself.
21. What are the school’s traditions and how did they develop? Homecoming traditions are still the same with royalty and pep fests.
• Who are the school’s traditional rivals? Apple Valley and Rosemount.
How did the rivalry begin? Cross-town, and so close.
22. What are five things most interesting about EVHS? We are really good at all aspects of our school, sports, band, speech, theatre, debate, academics. It's really cool to see that everything we do here at Eastview that we excel in it, and it stands out.
